Actress Jena Malone is “super excited” about joining the cast of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, and rightly so. Last week, Lionsgate confirmed that the actress would be portraying the role of Johanna Mason in The Hunger Games sequel and now Malone is sharing her enthusiasm with the world.
“I’m super excited. It’s going to be amazing,” Malone told E! Online. “I read the whole series over a weekend when I had a wisdom tooth out […] I loved it.”
Shortly after the announcement was made last week, Malone also posted a photo from the iconic Hollywood sign in Los Angeles to her Instagram account, along with the caption:
On top of the world today!!!!! Lionsgate finally made the announcement today. I get the incredible opportunity to play Johanna Mason in the hunger games trilogy. I’ve been bursting at the seams wanting to share!!!
Lionsgate has confirmed that the Instagram account really belongs to Malone, and not an impersonator.
Malone joins previously announced Catching Fire cast members Philip Seymour Hoffman and Amanda Plummer. It’s also been rumored that Sam Claflin has been offered the role of Finnick, but so far that information is unconfirmed.
