NBC has announced that they will be bringing “Dracula” series to television next year. The show will be produced by the same production company as “Downtown Abbey” and will star “Tudors” actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers.
The filming will take place later this year and will be set in London during the Victorian age. Dracula will be portrayed as an American entrepreneur who is pretending to be there toe help bring the newest science to Victorian England. But, in reality he is there for revenge for what occurred centuries before. And of course, the love interest of this Dracula is a reincarnation of his lost love.
Michael Edelstein, President, NBCUniversal International Television Production, said:
We are delighted that Jonathan Rhys Meyers has chosen this project to return to television and have built an amazing team of producers behind the camera to deliver this extraordinary show. Since 1897, the story of Dracula has captivated readers and viewers alike and this sexy, updated twist on the classic also promises not to disappoint.”
Will they try to incorporate steam punk and bring it to the television screen?
