The Emmy Award-winning writer and co-executive producer of HBO’s Game Change could soon be writing the two-part Hunger Games finale, Mockingjay.
According to Variety, Danny Strong has been “tapped” to write Mockingjay: Part 1 and Part 2 for Lionsgate. The studio has not commented on the rumor.
Filming is currently underway for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, the second movie in the planned four-part franchise. While there were only three books in Suzanne Collins’ series, Lionsgate has opted to break the final book up into two movies, set to be released November 21, 2014 and November 20, 2015.
Strong also recently wrote the screenplay for the presidential drama The Butler along with Lee Daniels, starring Alan Rickman, James Marsden, Alex Pettyfer, and Robin Williams.
Besides his Emmy-winning stint at writing, some fans may also remember Strong as the recurring character Jonathan from “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” He’s also acted in a number of other movies and TV shows.
