First comic books, then TV… then the world. “The Walking Dead” creator Robert Kirkman has a new novel coming out to expand the story of “The Walking Dead.” Robert Kirkman and Jay Bonansinga have penned “The Walking Dead: The Road to Woodbury” as a follow-up to last year’s TWD novel, “Rise of the Governor.” The new novel comes out on October 16th.
“The Road to Woodbury” picks up right where “Rise of the Governor” left off, with the man who would become the Governor just taking control of the fortified town of Woodbury in the days after the dead replaced the living as the dominant species on Earth. “The Road to Woodbury” describes how Woodbury became the place that it was when Rick, Glenn, and Michonne stumbled into it in the comic books, and how the Governor became the ruthless sicko who took Rick’s hand and destroyed the prison.
This is the second in a series of novels planned to expand “The Walking Dead” universe. Along with TellTale Games’s series of TWD video games, the novels are designed to add depth to the setting of Rick Grimes’s zombie apocalypse and background on some of its most infamous characters.
