Written and produced during the Writer’s Guild of America strike of 2008, “Dr. Horrible” was originally introduced to the world via webseries, and then later was released on DVD. But on Tuesday, October 9 at 9/8c The CW will air the musical webseries on television for the first time ever.
Joss Whedon announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2012 that The CW would be airing “Dr. Horrible” sometime this fall. According to TV Line, that time is a week from today, and at long last, Dr. Horrible, Bad Horse, and the rest of the Evil League of Evil will get the televised attention they so richly deserve.
“Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog” tells the story of a low-level super villain (Neil Patrick Harris) and his quest for entrance into the Evil League of Evil. Along the way he attempts to woo the girl of his dreams and laundromat buddy, Penny (Felicia Day). But he is thwarted in both endeavors by his arch nemesis, Captain Hammer (Nathan Fillion). Oh yeah, and the whole thing’s a musical so there’s plenty of singing and dancing about Freeze-rays and thrilling heroics.
In an interview with Crave Online, Whedon claimed to be working on a sequel to “Dr. Horrible” this summer, along with brother Jed Whedon and sister Maurissa Tancharoen.
Tune into The CW next Tuesday at 9/8c to see all three musical acts of Joss Whedon’s “Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog” in all their villainous glory.
