Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson jumps back into those days of B.C. backdrops and sword-in-hand. Johnson once made his lead big screen debut in “The Scorpion King”. Now the film star and wrestling legend steps into the movie footprints of a legend. Mythical that is, namely to play the role of Hercules.
Brett Ratner (“Tower Heist”, “Chaos”) is on board to direct the script currying the graphic novel “Hercules: The Thracian Wars”.
The action star captivates movie-goers amongst pop culture from his contemporary action movies as in “The Rundown” and, more recently, “Fast Five”. This will be the native Californian’s inaugural project into a comic book movie, and more than likely he’ll rock the Hercules role with equal.
Johnson stars in a script written into a live-action take by Ryan Condal (“Plurality”). Screenwriter Evan Spiliotopoulos, just announced to pen “Wanted 2”, wrote in extra revisions.
MGM and Paramount Pictures back this project. “Hercules: The Thracian Wars” is co-produced by Ratner, Radical President Barry Levine and Beau Flynn. Executive Producers are Peter Berg, Sarah Aubrey and Radical EVP Jesse Berger.
The graphic novel was written by Steve Moore and interior art done by Admira Wijaya and Chris Bolson.
