‘The Cabin in the Woods’ nominated for 10 Fright Meter Awards

Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard‘s genre-defying horror film “The Cabin in the Woods” has been nominated for ten Fright Meter Awards. The Fright Meter Awards honor excellence in the horror genre, and the awards are voted upon by a committee of horror enthusiasts and experts.

“The Cabin in the Woods” was Whedon and Goddard’s self-described “very loving hate letter” to the horror genre. As a work of film, it was meant to hold up a mirror to the horror genre, examine horror’s current tropes and archetypes, and to be a metaphor for the filmmaker-audience-reviewer relationship. And that is as much detail as we can use to describe a movie that is truly worth the surprise.

“The Cabin in the Woods”‘s Fright Meter Award nominations are as follows:

Best Horror Movie: The Cabin in the Woods

Best Director: Drew Goddard, The Cabin in the Woods

Best Actor in a Supporting Role: Richard Jenkins, The Cabin in the Woods (as Sitterson) Fran Kranz, The Cabin in the Woods (as Marty)

Best Ensemble Cast: The Cabin in the Woods

Best Screenplay: The Cabin in the Woods written by Joss Whedon & Drew Goddard

Best Make Up/Special Effects: The Cabin in the Woods

Best Editing: The Cabin in the Woods (Lisa Lassek)

Best Cinematography: The Cabin in the Woods (Peter Deming)

Best Score: The Cabin in the Woods (David Julyan)
