Whedonverse alums Felicia Day and Eliza Dushku nominated for Streamy Awards

Three Whedonverse names have been nominated for Streamy Awards this year. Besides the entirely predictable and well-deserved nomination of Felicia Day for her writing of “The Guild,” Eliza Dushku and Joss Whedon himself were also nominated for guest appearances.

Felicia Day was first known and loved by Whedonites as the Potential Slayer Vi in the final season of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” Now she has grown into her fame as the writer and lead actress in “The Guild,” a comedic webseries about a group of gamers and their online guild, The Knights of Good. Should she win the honor, this will not be Day’s first Streamy Award, and “The Guild” has become one of the most popular webseries in existence through the course of its six seasons.

Joss Whedon has been nominated in the category of Best Guest Appearance for his cameo in “Husbands,” the webseries by former “Buffy” and “Firefly” co-writer Jane Espenson. Eliza Dushku was nominated in the same category for her appearance on “Leap Year.”

The Streamy Awards honor excellence in the creation of webseries. It is a fan-attended live event with awards presented across several series and individual categories, including two audience choice awards determined by fan voting. The 3rd Annual Streamy Awards will take place on Sunday, February 17th, 2013 at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, California.
