Comics series renews ‘The X-Files’ and restarts from all-new Season 10

“I want to believe” is a familiar tagline fans of the trademark team of Mulder and Scully know all too well tying mystery and investigations into the unknown towards the 1993 to 2002 Fox series “The X-Files”. With a deal made that continues the program’s creator as executive producer, believability falls into the medium of comics to carry on the legacy.

IDW Publishing announced their new ongoing series from a March press release. The comics publisher will carry on the intrigue from governmental halls to vestiges of alien visitation within a Season 10 ongoing series.

“It was already an incredibly exciting prospect to tell stories set after the second THE X-FILES movie, especially after Joe Harris worked up such a great plan in that regard,” said Chris Ryall, IDW’s Chief Creative Officer/Editor-in-Chief. “But my excitement level went off the charts after a meeting with Chris Carter, where he agreed to come aboard and executive produce our Season 10. In much the same way Joss Whedon steered our Angel: After the Fall series, Chris has graciously returned to do the same here. What do THE X-FILES look like in this increasingly paranoid and untrusting post-Wikileaks era? Well, they look like canon to me… and come June, the rest of the world will be able to see it for themselves, too.”

“Darkness Falls” screenwriter Joe Harris has been tapped to scribe The X-Files: Season 10.Harris has recognizable acrreditation penning comic books with Great Pacific and The Fury of Firestorm. In lock with the 9-seasons canon framed by television and film, Harris pens the first issue right where Scully and Mulder left off in lives together under assumed names.

The 32-page first issue teams Harris with the panels crafting of Michael Walsh (Comebook, Murderbook). Walsh’s interior depictions will have the coloring talent of Jordie Beltaire.

The X-Files: Season 10 delves back into “The Truth is Out There” this June 19.
