Seven best moments from Sam Claflin’s twitter Q&A with fans

During his lunch break on Thursday, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire actor Sam Claflin held an impromptu question and answer session with fans through his verified Twitter account.

Claflin answered off the wall questions about foreign languages and favorite types of music, as well as questions about Catching Fire and his other film roles. He talked about casting Annie in Mockingjay, giving CPR to Josh Hutcherson and their supposed bromance, his love of Suzanne Collins, and more.

The British actor had some witty and charming responses to fans, and his hashtag #askclaffers even became a worldwide trending topic at one point.

Check out the seven best moments from his Twitter chat in the attached list (above) and share your favorite in the comments below.

Claflin is currently filming Love, Rosie with actress Lily Collins, though he took a short break over the weekend to promote Catching Fire at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival.

Rob Liefeld is Kickstarting a free ‘Brigade’

Image Comics co-founder and Deadpool creator, Rob Liefeld, launched his first Kickstarter campaign last week. The writer/artist wants to raise enough funds to distribute the re-launch of one of his other creations, Brigade – a part of his Extreme Universe, a long with Youngblood, Bloodstrike and Glory. Oh, and he wants to distribute the first issue for free.

That’s right. Inspired by fellow Image co-founder, Marc Silvestri’s, Kickstarter campaign to distribute the first arc of his “Cyber Force” re-launch for free, Liefeld is hoping to raise $17,500 in pledges in order to distribute 50,000 copies of “Brigade” #1 to comic shops to give away for free. Liefeld has confirmed that free distribution of “Brigade” #2 is a planned stretch goal for the campaign, if/when it reaches its initial target.

Liefeld, who provides writing and art on the new series, describes the re-launched “Brigade” as:

The premise behind the new Brigade is that all time and space is under constant attack by a multitude of threats each attempting to alter the course of human history. A Brigade of heroes is assembled by John Stone aka Battlestone who commands a diverse unit of heroes uniquely qualified to defend humanity and preserve the fragile order of things. By definition, “A Brigade is a major tactical military formation that is typically composed of up to three to six battalions”. The first of many TIME-BOMB’S has been detonated and the fabric of many realities has begun to crater and change.

Official synopsis for ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay” – Parts 1 and 2 released

Lionsgate has released the official synopsis for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Parts 1 and 2, the two-part finale to their film franchise based on the best-selling book series by Suzanne Collins.

And a warning for those who have not read the books — the synopsis is packed with spoilers:

In MOCKINGJAY PARTS 1 & 2, we follow heroine Katniss Everdeen’s journey as she leads the districts of Panem in a rebellion against the tyrannical and corrupt Capitol. As the war that will determine the fate of Panem escalates, Katniss must decipher for herself who she can trust and what needs to be done, with everything she cares for in the balance.

The Mockingjay movies are expected to begin filming in September and run through May 2014. Catching Fire director Francis Lawrence has signed on to helm both movies, and award-winning screenwriter Danny Strong has written the screenplays for both parts.

Audiences got a preview of the second movie, Catching Fire, at the Cannes Film Festival this past weekend. It hits theaters November 22nd.

R-Squared Comicz unveils Lightweightz: The anthology Part Two

R-Squared Comicz unveils Lightweightz: The Anthology Part Two. Creator Justin Martin returns to the indie comic scene with part two of his Christian themed comic. This creative use of biblical themes from R-Squared Comicz hits the streets with the following press release:

Justin Martin of R-Squared Comicz

Announces the Release of Lightweightz: The Anthology Part Two

“Justin Martin, educator, writer and founder of R-Squared-Comicz is proud to release Lightweightz: The Anthology Part Two, available today for purchase as a pdf on www.rsquaredcomicz.com. It is drawn and colored by Przemyslaw R. Dedelis and Lya, respectively. “Przemyslaw and Lya did an amazing job for [Lightweightz: The Anthology] Part One, and…are blowing my mind in new ways [with] Part Two,” says creator and writer Justin Martin. Based on 1 Corinthians 12:7 (“Now to each one the manifestation of the spirit is given for the common good”), Part Two introduces readers to the remaining four Lightweightz, teenagers who discover they have unique abilities. As with Part One, Part Two focuses on the impact these abilities have on their lives, and their struggles in making sense of them. Each struggle is unique, and holds significant implications for who they will become.

It begins with Ayden the pusher, who begins to see just how much control he has over his situation. Next is Qasim the revealer, who’s determined to use his ability to help others, despite the toll it takes on his personal life. There’s Emi the adapter, who learns the hard way that it’s not about the ability, but about what you do with it. And finally there’s Gabriel the inscriber, whose ability makes him one of the most hunted and important characters for the events to come. “This time around, I wanted their abilities to be more central to their story, and for the stories to be a little more action-oriented,” says creator and writer Justin Martin. “Hopefully I’ve achieved these goals, and more importantly, convinced [readers] to care about each character.”

With Ayden’s desire for significance, Qasim’s commitment to doing the right thing, Emi’s need to belong, and Gabriel’s renewed purpose, Part Two gives readers a look into what motivates each character, and what lies ahead. And with a diverse group of characters and experiences, there’s something for everyone. So grab your copy, and let your light shine!

R-Squared Comicz was founded in 2010 by Justin Martin with the purpose of creating quality comics from a Christian worldview. Justin has a Master’s in Education, and is currently pursuing his PhD in Education. His research involves the social and moral judgments of adolescents and college students. In addition to Lightweightz, he is working on other comics, which you can learn more about on his website.”

To catch preview of what’s in story in this volume, check out the associated video for a peek at Lightweightz: The Anthology Part Two trailer. Fans looking for info on part 1 of the anthology can learn more here.

Spoilers: What is the future of Stefan and Silas on ‘Vampire Diaries’

The finale of “Vampire Diaries” left everyone wondering what is going to happen with Stefan and if he will escape the bottom of the river. There are also questions about Silas and what he will do at the beginning of the next season.

Here is what has been revealed thus far:

  • Stefan is Silas’ doppleganger and that this is the loophole for immortality
  • We know that Silas may not be around town the entire time but he will returning back to town
  • Silas’ agenda is still the same which is to take the cure, get rid of the other side and pass on and find peace in death
  • Silas is going to use his psychic ability to trick the residents of Mystic Falls into thinking he is Stefan
  • There are supposed to be some funny times at the beginning of the season

Here is what writer, Julie Plec said to TVline.com about Paul Wesley’s role as both Stefan and Silas:

“He is so happy,” Julie laughs. “Playing the straight man hero is not always the most exciting job for an actor, and Stefan, of all our heroes, is the straightest on the show. We get to go deeper into his ripper side sometimes, but for Paul, those moments are just pocket moments of opportunity to dig deeply into his craft, and a lot of other times he feels like he’s just grooming his hero hair. So obviously, he’s very enthusiastic about this, and has been supportive of it all along. He’s been dying for something; to be a jerk, to be evil, to be the bad guy, to be able to stretch his muscles.”

“The Vampire Diaries” is scheduled to return this fall on The CW.

How do you think the next season will go with the Silas/Stefan storyline?
