Box office booster: No decline in fandom for ‘Iron Man 3’

No way around the Metal Movie Duos of 2013 without one starting with a pace setter opening day. The second comic book film, after “Oblivion”, of the year “Iron Man 3” upgrades its personal best with a record making debut.

$ 175. million, reports Box Office Mojo, puts the follow up of “The Avengers” right behind the very same superteam’s premiere saliency. Director Joss Whedon’s cinematic team origins flick crowns the opening weekend rankings at an epic $207. million .

Robert Downey Jr. stars once again in this third installment, which was co-written by its director Shane Black (“Kiss Kiss Bang Bang”) with filmmaker Drew Pearce (“Pacific Rim”). “Iron Man 3” breaks ground on Phase 2, the scheduled set of movies that includes “Thor: The Dark World” (Nov. 8) and “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” (2014) and will lead up to the high fan-favorite horizon set by “Avengers 2”.

After “Iron Man 3” arrives the much-talked about takes off for the reboot “Man of Steel” premieres. Like Henry Cavill’s Superman has a trailer scene of sonic barrier breaking flight, so have the teasers put new heights on movie-goer’s expectations on the 2013 comic book movie with the creative stamp of visual extraordinaire director Zach Snyder.

The international box office tally for the Paramount Pictures and Marvel Studios production already has a gross of an elevating $504. million gross, and putting the third Iron Man film at a worldwide total of $680. million with its first Stateside outing.

Back in 2010, “Iron Man 2” launched a debut weekend domestic at a box office topper of $128. million.
