Innovation comes to a stop in ‘The Last West’

Philadelphia Natives, Lou Iovino and Evan Young, have relaunched their Kickstarter campaign to fund their “The Last West” comic book series. The pair have already reached their initial goal of $3,800 in a matter of days and are looking to unlock several stretch goals over the remaining 21 days of the campaign. Join Elizabeth Loraine on the Book Tour for Her New Shifter Book, ‘Green River’

Elizabeth Loraine, famous for her vampire series, “The Royal Blood Chronicles” and her supernatural story “Power” has now released a new book, “Green River”, the beginning of her “Shifter Chronicle Series. And today, July 25, she just announced on her Facebook page that she will be participating today in an internet wide book blog tour with Lady Reader’s Bookstuff.

“Green River” tells the story of Aidan, a young shifter who is torn between hiding his secret and protecting his tribe or to protect these new humans that he just met. He knows that Missy and Charlotte are in trouble and he is drawn to them, in a very strong way.

There is a killer in Seattle that is familiar to Aidan and his tribe. Here is an official description from the book:

A killer roams Seattle, one eerily familiar to one from decades ago, How can he just stand by and watch as what happened decades ago happens yet again? No…Green River is his territory now and Aidan decides nothing is going to keep him from stopping this killer before he can kill again. When Charlotte decides the same thing, they join together and find that their worlds intertwine more than they could have ever imagined. Alliances are formed, families are pulled apart, and a love story begins.

There are several contests going on as well as multiple blogs hosting the tour. For information on how to participate and possibly win prizes please visit the blog host’s website here.

Elizabeth is an excellent writer and her stories are wonderful. Please check out her author’s page on Amazon.com here.

Jennifer Lawrence Fangirls Jeff Bridges and Best of ‘Catching Fire’ at Comic-Con

Jennifer Lawrence Fangirls Jeff Bridges and Best of ‘Catching Fire’ at Comic-Con

The cast of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire was quite busy during San Diego Comic Con this past weekend, but they still found time to do a bit of “fangirling” of their own.

Case in point: Jennifer Lawrence made no secret about how excited she was to meet Jeff Bridges. The hilarious and endearing encounter was caught on camera, when the actress gasped, ran away, and then ran back to meet Bridges while he was conducting an interview with E! online. After apologizing for interrupting, she got even more excited (and awe-struck) when the E! reporter handed her the microphone.

Lawrence managed to eke out a question for Bridges, asking him about his favorite film role. (“Does it rhyme with ‘The Schmude?'” she asked, referring to his iconic performance in The Big Lebowski.)

Of course, when she wasn’t busy fangirling Bridges, or talking about the snot she dribbled into Josh Hutcherson’s mouth during their kissing scene in Catching Fire, Lawrence and her costars did chat about the second movie in The Hunger Games franchise with reporters. Here’s a round-up of at least most of the cast’s interviews:

JoBlo also featured Lionsgate in their review of the best booths at Comic Con for their massive Catching Fire displays.

‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ Action Figures to include Finnick and More

NECA, the company behind the merchandise for The Hunger Games, has announced plans to release action figures of characters Katniss, Peeta, and Finnick in time for the release of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

According to NECA, the action figures will be dressed in their black and grey arena uniforms, and will be based on the actors who portray the characters in the film. Each figure will stand approximately 6.75″ tall.

The Katniss figurine will come with a set of bow and arrows, while Finnick will come with a trident spear. (No bread for dear Peeta? Apparently not.)

The figures are expected to be released in November, which is when Catching Fire hits theaters. Additional series of action figures are expected to be announced, along with other merchandise.

Superior Spider-Man to face Venom Starting with Issue #22

Otto Octavius has easily assimilated to Peter Parker’s life as both man and spider. But what happens when the Superior Spider-Man runs into the superior symbiote known as Venom?

That’s what we will find out starting with issue #22, when the classic rivalry is revisited.

“Be warned—we have some nasty stuff planned,” said series writer Dan Slott. “Venom always brings out Spider-Man’s dark side, and we’re taking that 10 steps further in this latest arc. You should probably read this in a sunny, well-populated area.”

With Otto becoming a more ruthless “hero,” what will happen when he and Flash Thompson clash for the first time since the groundbreaking Amazing Spider-Man #700. The creators promise a vicious battle, but will Flash be able to see through Octavius’ ruse?

“There is no better brawl to get the blood pumping like a showdown between Spider-Man and Venom,” said Marvel Senior Editor Steve Wacker. “Now that Otto’s in the driver’s, we can see these two clash with a viciousness we’ve never seen before. Believe me when I say we’ve been saving up for this one!”

Well, they have sold me on this new take on a classic battle. Be sure to pick up Superior Spider-Man #22 this November and see how it all plays out.

10 Best Moments from ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ Comic-Con Panel

One of the highlights during San Diego Comic Con this past weekend, was the panel featuring The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

This was the first time The Hunger Games series hit Hall H — and while the debut of a new Catching Fire trailer was certainly the pinnacle of the panel, there were plenty of other highlights that left fans feeling even more exciting about the movie. (As if that were even possible!)

Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Jena Malone, Jeffrey Wright, Willow Shields, and director Francis Lawrence discussed the movie, and answered fan questions before and after the trailer. Check out ten of the best moments from their panel in the slideshow above, and share your favorite in the comments below.

‘Being Human’ Sam Witwer to Attend Scarefest Horror Convention

‘Being Human’ Sam Witwer to attend Scarefest Horror Convention

The ScareFest promoters just released information on their website, yesterday that “Being Human‘s” Sam Witwer will be attending this year’s convention in Lexington, KY.

Sam Witwer is the sexy vampire, Aidan Waite from SyFy’s “Being Human”, a show based on the BBC’s show of that same name. his name is Aidan is a nod to the BBC show’s actor, Aidan Turner who played their vampire, John Mitchell in the first three seasons.

Sam is also famous for voicing The Cartoon Network’s “Star Wars: The Clone Wars”. He voiced both The Son and Darth Maul for the show. He also played Davis/Doomsday from the WB’s “Smallville”.

Sam is also a huge gamer. He likes to play both table top and video games. This is a great coincidence because ScareFest is adding a gaming track to their convention called The Portal.

ScareFest is going to be the weekend of September 13-15 in Lexington, Ky. ScareFest appears to be all about vampires this year with not only Sam Witwer but also “True Blood” stars Sam Trammell, Rutina Wesley, Janina Gavankar, and Jim Parrack.

I personally cannot with to meet both Sam Witwer and Sam Trammell.

For more information please visit their website here.
