Coldplay to Release First ‘The Hunger games: Catching Fire’ Single Aug. 26

The first single from the soundtrack for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will be available starting August 26th, and will feature an original song from the band Coldplay, Lionsgate has announced.

“Atlas” is the first Coldplay song ever to be written exclusively for a major motion picture. It features lyrics thematic to Catching Fire, such as:

Some saw the sun
Some saw the smoke
Some heard the gun
Some bent the bow
Sometimes the wise must tense for the note
Caught in the fire, say oh
We’re about to explode

The single will be available on iTunes and other digital retailers starting August 26th. No word yet on when other tracks and contributing artists for the Catching Fire soundtrack will be announced, or when the full album will be available. However, it appears as though Liongate is gearing up for a major 100-day countdown to the film’s November 22nd release (per Variety).
