‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay’ now in preproduction ahead of filming start date

Filming won’t start for a few more weeks on The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Parts 1 and 2, but pre-production is already well underway.

According to an article in the LA Times, insurers will be inspecting Atlanta-area filming sites for Mockingjay this week, including an old warehouse. The team will also review action scenes and pyrotechnics plans with stunt coordinators, as well as “training for actors to ensure they are prepared to film various fights and chase scenes.”

Filming on Mockingjay is expected to begin in late September and last through May. Both of the Mockingjay films are expected to be filmed simultaneously, although the movies will be released a year apart in November 2014 and November 2015.

Previous reports have indicated that Mockingjay will film primarily in Atlanta and Los Angeles, but other locations have been mentioned, including Boston and England.

Meanwhile, Lionsgate recently announced the first three new cast members to be joining Mockingjay: Evan Ross, Stef Dawson, and Natalie Dormer.
