New comic book releases 6/6/12
New comic book releases for the week of 6/6/12. This week’s headline title comes from DC Comics in the form of Before Watchmen: Minutemen #1. Buzz leading up to the release of this title has been steady and comes with some level of debate regarding how the company has treated the material originally created by Alan Moore. Mike Gold over on ComicMix does a good job of summing up the essence of what all the hubbub is about. Initial word on this one is that it is off to a good start and may be one worth considering for the buy pile. Fans of Brian Michael Bendis should consider picking up the trade paperback of Moon Knight Vol. #1 for a creative take on the unbalanced character that is intriguing and compelling. This release collects issues #1-7 of the 2011 run with art by Alex Maleev. The strongest offering comes from a comic book company that is making a return to the industry scene with X-O Manowar #2. Valiant Entertainment is off to a great start with the reboot of this chracter that first made his appearance back in 1992 and delivers great sci-fi/super hero action. Not sure where to pick up some of this week’s titles. Never fear, if you live in the SF Eastbay, local comic shops such as Dr. Comics & Mr. Games, Flying Colors Comics and The Escapist Comic Bookstore are all great options for your reading needs. If you find that a comic shop is a destination that is outside of your circle of accessibility check out some of these online options for a great selection of comics both old and new: Things From Another World, Midtown Comics, and Mile High Comics.
