‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay-Part 1’ full length trailer has finally arrived
Fans of The Hunger Games thought this moment would never arrive. Just over two months until theatrical release, and Lionsgate has finally unveiled a full-length trailer for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1.
“I never wanted any of this,” we hear Katniss say, as the trailer begins. “I never wanted to be in the games. I just wanted to save my sister, and keep Peeta alive.”
Then President Snow (Donald Sutherland) replies, “Miss Everdeen, it’s the things we love most that destroy us.”
The trailer features plenty of footage of the growing rebellion, and Katniss taking on her role as the Mockingjay – the symbol of the revolution. But then we see her willingness to cooperate with the rebellion shaken, when she realizes Peeta is still alive and has been brainwashed by the Capitol.

“You will rescue Peeta at the earliest opportunity,” Katniss tells the rebellion’s leader, Alma Coin (Julianne Moore), “or you will find another Mockingjay.”
Despite being filled with dramatic music and new looks at the film, the trailer clocks in at only one-minute and 47-seconds — considerably shorter than the two-and-a-half minutes or more fans had been hoping for.
The wait has been a long one for fans, who began expecting teasers months ago when filming on the two-part finale wrapped up. Instead, Lionsgate teased fans with propaganda images featuring models; then two short propaganda video clips which featured no actual footage from the movie. Then more posters and more posters, and not a single one of them featuring Katniss until just last week. Even the teaser video released over the summer showed very little footage from the films, and barely featured Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss.
To say fans have been frustrated by this marketing decision would be an understatement.
Still, the trailer has — at long last — finally arrived. Given how close it is to the film’s November 21st release date, it’s unlikely there will be another full-length trailer. And considering the bare-minimum marketing we’ve seen from Lionsgate, fans question whether there will even be a lot of new footage to see in TV spots for the movie.
